Bed skirt Construction, Are There More Variations?

Bed skirt adds to the decorative aspect of a bedroom. Myriad designs were made to complement the décor of a bedroom. Bed skirts help complete and fall in the objective component of a trimming schema aside from their main function of hiding the box spring and things stored under it.

Bed skirts come in gathered or ruffled style and in pleated or tailored style. The former is made of one fabric that has a tight more fluid elastic fold at the top. It extends to the three sides and at the foot of the bed. The latter on the contrary, is made of different panels of fabric with two or three splits on each side and at the foot of the bed. Its fold is more geometrical and accurate that is similar to folded parallelograms.

Be it tailored or gathered, people say that there are but two variations of bed skirt construction. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages. These two variations are the panel bed skirt and the deck bed skirt.

A panel bed skirt is one which has three panels, one for each side of the bed. It is attached with pins to the sides and at foot of the bed. It is adjustable in length and easy to remove but not as stable as the other construction as it usually loses it proper placement.

On the other hand, a deck bed skirt is one that is attached to a deck that is secured underneath the mattress. Only the bed skirt is visible when it is placed over the decking fabric. The said fabric is the same size as the mattress. It is cumbersome to remove the deck bed skirt for cleaning since there is a need to lift the mattress. This kind of construction is not adjustable but more stable; it does not lose its place.

I thought there are but two variations of bed skirt construction. What about this so called grip deck system? Is this a version of the deck bed skirt only or for both?

A grip deck bed skirt differs from conventional bed skirts. Instead of one continuous bed skirt, it is made of three sections, two side skirts and one foot skirt. Aside from eliminating corner problem on posted bed frames, it allows flexibility in placing it on bed.

The main feature of grip deck skirt is that it replaced pins to hook and fasteners, enabling skirts to simply press on and peel off. It is vinyl-based, non-slip deck, more stable than any other construction.

I guess this variation arrests more of the disadvantages of both two variations of bed skirt construction. Who says it won't work well with all types of bed skirts? The usefulness is evident.
